Fugro GeoServices announces availability of Deepwater Map Sets

August 18, 1999

For planning and developing sites and pipeline routes, Fugro GeoServices announces the availability of deepwater map sets. These new, non-exclusive DeepLook 2000 SuperMap sets are available as hard copy or digitally on a CD to show seafloor conditions in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico. They are available for Garden Banks, Green Canyon/Ewing Bank, Mississippi Canyon/Viosca Knoll, Walker Ridge, and Atwater Valley lease areas.

Benefitting from Fugro's years of experience assessing deepwater conditions, the colored maps are designed to help fast-track projects and reduce costs by making valuable planning information readily available.

The maps are useful for evaluating, leasing, exploring, drilling, planning, or developing deepwater sites and pipeline routes. The types of maps available include the following:

  • Development Favorability Map - shows relative difficulty of development and pipelining in each block.
  • Seafloor Rendering - illustrates complex seafloor areas as shaded relief image; analogous to aerial photo.
  • Water Depth Map - contours are based on swath bathymetric data and show more detail and have greater accuracy than most other published bathymetric maps.
  • Seafloor Slope-Gradient Map - provides a color-keyed display of calculated seafloor slope.
  • Seafloor Features Map - displays complex topographic and surficial geologic features (such as scarps, landslides, seafloor faults, expulsion mounds, and rugged topography) that could impact drilling and development decisions.

Headquartered in Houston, TX with additional offices in Lafayette, LA and Patterson, LA, Fugro GeoServices, Inc. provides high resolution geophysical data acquisition and interpretation.
