Offshore survey company Fugro Chance was recently recognized as Fugro’s first recipient of the “Fugro Award of Excellence for 2006”. This annual award will be awarded by the CEO of Fugro to the member of the Fugro group of companies that has the most outstanding contribution during the year. The 2006 award was bestowed in recognition of Fugro Chance’s tremendous response to the immense work load generated as a result of the damage that super-powered hurricanes Ivan, Katrina, and Rita caused in the Gulf of Mexico and the way in which Fugro employees excelled in meeting customers’ needs.

In assessing the damage in the Gulf, Chance’s proprietary data base proved to be essential to the 70 plus field survey crews that Chance supplied to customers immediately following the storms. The data base contains vast volumes of geographic information and has been recognized as the most comprehensive data base of wells, pipelines, and hazards to be found in the Gulf of Mexico. Unique in the industry, this data is continually updated by a team of professional and technical staff in marine data management to provide the most current information available.
