Chance sets record for Rig Moves
August 1, 2000
Survey company John E. Chance & Associates has added another notch to its string of successes. As of August 1, Chance has performed
411 rig moves for the year 2000.
This represents a 32% increase in rig moves as compared to Chance's busiest rig move season in 1984 and a 37% increase over the same
period in 1999.
Jim O'Neal, General Manager of Chance's Marine Group since 1982, attributes this milestone to the company's strong market positiion
as the leader in innovative survey technology and the vast offshore survey experience.
Through recent years, the company has fine-tuned its offshore methods through developing tools such as STARFIX.NAV® and DRONE™ which
offer clearer navigation guidance and cost savings by reducing the time required to position rigs.
The company has also reached this milestone with no lost-time accidents for the past 415 days.
According to President Phil Stutes, "This is a commendable safety accomplishment, considering the environment that our survey crews
work in. We incorporate an aggressive safety campaign which provides specialized training." Training for surveyors include water survival, offshore
safety orientation, CPR, first aid, and defensive driving.
John E. Chance & Associates, Inc. is a member of the multi-national Fugro group of companies with over 200 offices in 45 countries.
